What is Heads-up poker? and how to play?
You probably hear it come over when you look at a televised poker or if you look around in the poker rooms online, heads-up poker.
Heads-up poker is nothing more than one poker against one, but to be really good at it you will have to practice a lot. That's because when playing heads-up poker, there is the most need to use your poker skills, but also more than that.
It's weird enough with heads-up poker less about what your own cards and will therefore be more to the play of your opponent.
Do not play too cautious
One thing you should not forget when you're playing heads-up: You will have to play to win! Tickets wait and play conservative is not there with heads-up play. At a full table with 9 or 10 players then you wait for top hands, but you do not have that luxury if you play heads up. You will need to adjust the requirements for starting hands down tremendously. When heads-up sit, you have to play about 80 percent of your hands. Normally you would in a 9 or 10 handed game about 20 percent of playing your hands.
Especially a lot of practice
The main reason why you have to play as many hands is simple. You sit namely every hand in the blinds and if you do not play it'll cost too many chips. The player on the dealer button puts the small blind and the other player posts the big blind. The small blind before the flop then says the first and the rest of the hand position on the big blind after the flop, turn and river the first to say.
Train yourself in taking difficult decisions
Through a better heads-up game you will see that your entire poker knowledge will be better, for playing at a full table with 9 or 10 men. That's because the decisions you must make during a heads-up party are much more complicated because you have to make do with much less knowledge about the hand of the opponent. By training yourself in taking difficult decisions you can make routine decisions, because you already have frequently been in a situation then.
Note the poker style of your opponent
When you're playing heads-up, you should pay particular attention to what your opponent is doing. Is it a strong or a weak player? He plays tight or very very loose? Is he aggressive or very passive? The more questions you can answer about your opponent, the more you know him and you can draw a profile of your opponent. Do you have that done, then it is time that you are going the right strategy to use against the playing style of your opponent.
So you have to exploit his weaknesses. On the other hand you have to deal with an opponent who just keeps calling you all make sure you make huge bets when you have a strong hand.
Now there is one thing you should pay attention to and that is yourself! Make sure you keep playing unpredictable and that your opponent is not able to figure you out. You do that by not playing every hand the same. Use all the weapons you have but, slow play, check-raise, re-raise, bluff, bluff raise, what you can imagine and what only works against your opponent. We call vary your game.
